"“Frankie and Johnny” does, in fact, steal your heart. And, it frees up Evans and Mendelsohn to where they don’t come across like they are acting. They are fully engaged, peeling back layers of doubt and insecurities. When the a-ha moments of true love arrive, you are moved.
... Credit director Morgan McCabe for moving the play along briskly, while Michael Lasswell creates a sublime set, that New York skyline gorgeous. The real wow factor, though, are Evans and Mendelsohn. They lay bare their hearts, and the effect is dazzling"
